OBJECT CARPET: DUO

OBJECT CARPET continues its circular innovation: By 2026, the entire range will be converted to the recyclable DUO technology. This enables complete design freedom with just two materials: polyamide and polyester. This represents a revolution in the carpet industry and is a clear statement in favour of environmentally friendly solutions.

Conventional carpets consist of more than 30 materials and are difficult to recycle. OBJECT CARPET is intensively researching solutions for a world in which all raw materials can be reused.

After more than 10 years of development, OBJECT CARPET has succeeded in producing the first mono material carpet made of 100% polyester: NEOO. The DUO technology is the next step towards a circular product world. ‘How can we convert all products to a circular economy? Our answer: keep the pile made of polyamide and combine it with an adhesive and a back made of 100% polyester,’ says Daniel Butz, managing director of OBJECT CARPET.

The popular qualities MADRA, SILKY SEAL and SMOOZY have been converted to DUO technology. This has led to a new generation of carpets that are healthy for people and nature.

DUO carpets allow for maximum design freedom with minimal use of resources. Polyamide and polyester, bonded with a hot-melt adhesive, can be easily separated and recycled after use. The CLICK/UNCLICK technology lays the foundation for a circular product cycle.

The production of DUO carpets is optimised for optimal use of resources: the coating process does not require water or gas, which saves up to 95% of energy. Recycling is up to five times more energy efficient than producing new polyester.

OBJECT CARPET is working to ensure that all DUO carpets are fully recycled back into the production cycle. The website object-carpet.com/return is printed on the back of the carpet to facilitate the return process.

DUO carpets are extremely durable. As the red carpet of the Berlinale, they proved their durability and longevity under extreme conditions.
