Jan Kath: DAYDREAMER by Jan Kath
A place to linger.
With the "DAYDREAMER," carpet designer Jan Kath presents his first piece of furniture. He gathered the inspiration for it as a young boy while traveling with his father, Martin, through Persia.
In the gardens of old manor houses, cushioned divans were set up under shady trees by a cooling river. For Jan Kath, these oriental loungers are the epitome of relaxation and the perfect place to daydream.
These tranquil oases are the models for the "DAYDREAMER." A unique wooden mechanism allows the hand-knotted carpet mattress to be adjusted to different positions with just a few simple moves. The oak frame was developed by product designer Sanchir Kath in collaboration with master carpenter Claudius Schliessler.
It can either form an elegantly understated platform for the mattress, a classic sofa shape with a backrest, or a cozy nest supported by an airy frame.
