Artemide: Arctic by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group

Artic is a lighting collection composed of geometric elements brought to life through light and reflection. At its core lies a spherical light unit, surrounded by truncated pentagonal pyramids that together form a sculptural volume. The structure is based on an Archimedean solid and appears to be in constant motion through the interaction of reflections, transparency, and dynamic light.

The luminaire distributes light efficiently in all directions. Integrated cutouts in the diffusers guide the light precisely, while surface finishes, transparent or mirrored, allow for customized lighting effects. The design enables compact packaging and easy self-assembly.

Artic can be used as a pendant or ceiling light, either as a standalone object or part of a spatial installation. Even when turned off, it reflects its surroundings and maintains a strong visual presence. Inspired by ice crystals, Artic merges mathematical logic with sensual aesthetics—a luminous sculpture that transforms space and perception.
