Camira 2023: REPLAY
9/20/2023
With roots stretching back to 1783, Camira has truly established itself as both a leader and pioneer of the textile industry; employing over 650 staff, selling over 8 million metres of fabric each year, providing to approximately 80 countries worldwide, and offering over 2,500 products in a colour palette that covers the spectrum.
Designing and manufacturing fabrics that stand up to the most demanding of environments, without ever compromising on colour, comfort or style, Camira’s capabilities extend from raw yarn to finished fabric, through textile spinning, weaving, finishing, technical knitting and specialist cutting and sewing.
From the creation of its first recycled polyester fabric in 1997, through to the 2020 launch of Oceanic – the company’s first textile to include marine plastic waste – Camira’s commitment to creating beautiful fabrics, without causing harm to the environment, is long and enduring. From exploring the textures, tones and types of textiles that can be created using discarded plastic to innovating a brand new fabric crafted from renewable materials, Camira places its vision for a sustainable future at the heart of everything it does.
As testament to its work in furthering this cause, Camira has been recognised for its outstanding product innovation and environmental stewardship, receiving Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Innovation and Sustainable Development, and, most recently, being announced as the winner in the ‘Green Materials’ category in the HiP awards held by North America’s prestigious Interior Design magazine.
From offices in Asia to buses in Australia and universities in America, the places Camira fabrics can be found is diverse and far-reaching. Working with interior designers to create the ideal scheme for their space, furniture manufacturers in choosing the perfect textile for their product, and transport operators in need of a fabric that will stand up to thousands of daily commuters, the company’s customer base spans industries as well as continents.
Carefully designing and crafting beautifully woven and environmentally sensitive fabrics for centuries, Camira textiles are at home the world over.
