Genesis : the product was initially devised from a mock-up in an entirely empirical fashion, beginning with a origami-like trapezium- shaped cushion resting on a base to bring it lightness. The objective was to create a very comfortable, timeless piece. A contemporary icon of comfort, there is a link between TOA and the very DNA of Ligne Roset (Pascal Mourgue’s Calin or Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance’s Ottoman): this is an invitation to sit, like an invitation on a journey, to escape. The shape is evocative of spontaneous, intuitive folding. One simply must have it; it is universal. The base, airy like a skeletal structure, screws into a quilted body. The footrest brings an additional note of comfort and relaxation.

Surroundings : this armchair can have an informal side (in a fabric such as cotton), but it would fit equally well into a chic country residence (in wool) ; it could even become completely formal, perhaps in a ‘business lounge’ where it might be interpreted in leather. It sits happily by itself, accompanied only by a low table and light, since all sides of this armchair have equal pertinence.
