In addition to its function as a stool Dexter can owing to its simple, graphical thread design be put together several in a row to form a bench. Dexter can also be used as a table or stacked on top of each other to create storage space in the form of a shelf.
The stool came about as a student work on the master's programme at Konstfack in which students were assigned a furniture company to design a conceptual product for. Andreas Farkas got Lammhults and he noted that the furniture giant in southern Sweden lacked small, easy to place furniture in their range. He decided to draw a smaller piece of furniture that could fit in a clothing store, be used in a waiting room or as a set table and stool in a lounge environment - while it at the same time would work in a home environment and interest the private consumer to use it as a bedside table or coffee table. Lammhults showed the stool in their exhibition at Superstudio Piu in Milan 2011 and after its success there they decided to take it into production. Dexter, which is made of solid steel wire was first available in white and black. Now Dexter is also offered in a dark color range with black blue, olive green and black red together with the accent colour yellow orange. These powder coat colours also allow outdoor use.
Dexter is well suited to Lammhults design philosophy and can be looked at from all angles. This requires a great craftsmanship and attention in the product development work, something that is unique to Lammhults and an inspiring challenge for the company´s designers.
