Glow is an upholstery textile with an intriguing,
intricate pattern conceived by the late weaving expert
Frans Dijkmeijer. It comes in rich, vibrant colours by
Giulio Ridolfo.
Woven on a jacquard loom, Glow offers an eye-catching interplay between pattern and structure. The textile’s seemingly random, subtly striated pattern teases the eye, asking the question: is it pattern or structure on display?
Glow is constructed with unicoloured yarns in warp and weft, and an additional mélange yarn in every other weft. This creates a refined mélange fabric with great depth of expression. For instance, whereas some colourways feature pronounced, defined patterns; others have a more tone-in-tone look.
Several of Giulio Ridolfo’s pre-existing colours, such as unicoloured yarns from Steelcut and mélange yarns from Canvas and Remix, are combined in fresh ways with Glow. These unite to form the rich, refined hues that typify the designer’s work.
Glow is suitable for both public and private spaces. As a number of the textile’s colours are related to those of Steelcut, Steelcut Trio, Remix and Canvas, it combines particularly well with these designs.
The development of Glow follows the donation of Frans Dijkmeijer’s designs to the Kvadrat weaving library by his family.
