A good 2,000m as the crow flies from the new MUUUH! Group's headquarter in the 'Hageloft', and thus virtually on its own doorstep, KME produces the much sought-after TECU® copper materials for roofs and façades in Osnabrück. The extraordinary project of the joint planning team of MUUUH! Group and the architectural office Kresing, captivates at first glance by the contrasting use of warm gold copper elements to accentuate the dark brick of the historic factory building.
The architects' primary goal was to preserve the industrial character of the building, which is worthy of preservation. On the various working levels, glazed sash bar walls typical of the industry shield the quiet office areas from the open movement areas. In order to achieve a deep "view" into each floor, the building owners have removed some partition walls.
"New steel girders, which extend from the basement to the attic, now take over the load-bearing function and ensure the stability of the building," explains architect Kilian Kresing, who designed the conversion of the old factory.
The sustainable TECU® copper alloys are used worldwide when sophisticated architecture meets the demand for a special material. TECU® Gold is a copper alloy that, once installed, gradually develops into a very elegant, matt brown-golden surface that is reminiscent of the precious metal with its own unique character.
