Inspired by these places of relaxation, Jan Kath has designed his first piece of furniture: the DAYDREAMER. Carpets from his “ERASED HERITAGE” collection (knotted by hand from wool and silk) are transformed into mattresses and cushions in various sizes. In keeping with the Oriental tradition, they are stuffed with hand-spun raw cotton, providing a unique feeling when laid on. The designer created the base frame – made of powder-coated steel and covered in cowhide – in conjunction with the Dutch furniture specialist Founded. The aim was to devise a structure that can support the massive mattress while appearing lightweight and graceful, giving the impression that the carpet bed is floating.
