Gloster 2023: BORA

Eye-catching and inspiring, these striking dining tables beautifully reflect light across their soft, round surfaces while adding character to any outdoor space. In the early sixteenth century European artisans began to emulate the Chinese process of slip casting, an already well established practice facilitating production of increasingly substantial and complex forms in porcelain and ceramic. This timeless technique of creating beautiful ornaments with a series of tessellating, segmented moulds and subsequent glazing and kiln firing has remained unchanged to this day and is still used by master craftsmen and women to create beautiful and enduring forms from naturally resilient materials. The soft lines and natural tones of Kasha’s rounded ceramic bases employ this heritage method of production to combine perfectly with solid, plantation teak table tops that are in turn finished with a subtle edge profile intended to compliment the lines of each respective supporting cast.. Available in two sizes of top; 90cm and 120cm with correspondingly scaled bases, the understated simplicity of each completed table belies the complexity of this collection’s realisation. Each carefully moulded base is hand finished with a natural, matte glaze in one of three tones, Earth, Iron or Sand before being kiln fired at 1300 degrees centigrade to achieve its non-porous and extremely strong and durable final state. Designer Henrik Pedersen from Denmark is keen to emphasize Kasha’s artisanal quality. “These tables feel elemental.” he says. “They project a rustic feel with a sense of proficient creativity. No two are exactly the same due to the glazing and firing process and their colour and texture invites consideration of the tens of decades of refinement that have resulted in this inspiring, traditional execution.”
