Perfo, by young designer Anki Gneib, is characterized by its sober and well-balanced style. The Swedish designer applied her terse and forceful style to leather, thus betraying her Nordic origins, as well as her idea of tinsel-free decoration, to create a
chair that merges together memory and modernity. This leather chair with high backrest is in line with a favorite theme in Frag’s catalogue, one that was retrieved last year with Gordon Guillamier’s Comino, another chair characterized by the height of th
e backrest. A tubular metal frame dressed in a sophisticated two-color full grain leather “garment”, where the stern and perfect geometry of a laser-cut perforated circle is the only decorative detail allowed, apart from the unrestrained use of two colors
. The well-fitting effect of the cover turns it into a self-supporting element, making the metal support all but disappear and turning the material into the design’s undisputed main actor. The laser-cutting method used for Perfo is one of Frag’s main trum
ps, as it is used with the greatest of ease on other products for decorative purposes or to produce terse and sharp effects that a less advanced process would hardly be able to yield.
