Inspired by Scottish tartans, this suspension lamp was created by L+R Palomba in collaboration with Foscarini. The cool grey shade was made using blown, acid-etched glass that enriches the graphic pattern made of the criss-cross lines on its surface.
This product’s closely woven lines demonstrate Foscarini’s work in applying new technology into the traditional glass craftsmanship, giving a new contemporary life to this ancient material. The Tartan lamp was created through mouth blowing into an engraved mold. The result is a series of lines and folds tracing their way across the diffuser and creating a playful graphic effect with light and shadow. The acid etching used on the surface gives the glass a soft, material-like effect, bringing real fabric to mind.
When the lamp is switched off, the grey colour accentuates the lamp’s elegant presence. When switched on, it emits a warm, soft light fills the room.
