"These past ten years have passed in a moment. And yet, it seems so long since Giuseppe and Monica Pedrali and I first embarked on our journey ten years ago," says Odo Fioravanti. "Babila" was the name he gave the wooden chair, after Bishop Babylas, a saint of the Milanese church. The first design has since grown into a collection: "After the wooden version, we created a plastic version of the chair with wooden or metal legs, and these were followed by stools, comfort armchair versions, the more recent XL variant, and this year’s Twist model for outdoor use, which is woven in rope and features cushions suitable for the outdoors," says the designer. The great flexibility of the "Babila" collection is due to its clear form, which has its own charm in every version, from the chair to the armchairs to the barstool. In addition to the materials wood, upholstery, steel and aluminium, Pedrali also offers the "Babila XL" armchair in a version that is made entirely from recycled plastic. With "Babila Twist" made of steel and a rope of weatherproof polypropylene, the design is now also available for outdoor use and shows itself to be the ideal furniture for long summer days.
