Katrin Greiling is founder of Studio Greiling, a Stockholm-conceived Berlin-based office dedicated to furniture design, interior architecture and photography. This combination of mediums provides a wide perspective and allows for the embrace of projects from a various of directions.
A German native, Katrin studied carpentry and cabinet making at Capellagården before enrolling in a 5 years masters program in furniture design and interior architecture at Konstfack in Stockholm. After graduating, in 2005, she began her global exploration, working with clients in Africa, China, the Middle East, Japan, Indonesia and Europe. Some call her product Forest, produced by Offecct the worlds first ultra minimal room divider, others say that the sofa series Bidoun is the first contemporary furniture design in the UAE. Living as an adventurer, exploring the Middle Eastern culture, Katrin created some of her to date most important designs. Lounge of Layers was produced by Droog, and No Time Bracelet by Design House Stockholm. Katrin‘s designs have won numerous awards as Young Swedish Design in 2006 and Furniture of the Year in 2010 for the Bidoun Sofa Series. In 2010 she was part of the first Wallpaper Handmade exhibition, in 2012 a selected designer for the Hallingdal 65 exhibition by Kvadrat, and trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort included her designs in several shows, such as Nomadismi and Talking Textiles.
In 2014 Katrin Greiling developed together with Etienne Descloux the interior architecture for the Freunde von Freunden Apartment for Vitra. The 60sqm space is both used as showroom and event space. This project was folled by yet another apartment private for Original in Berlin in Berlin - Kreuzberg. Another frequent partner for collaborations are the Nordic countries.
In 2014 Katrin Greiling developed both content and exhibition architecture for PLAY NORDIC, a celebration of design and music from the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.The exhibition took place in the common house of the Nordic Embassies in Berlin, the Felleshus. Previous curations include Contemporay Collected, a concept the developed for Japan, both exhibited at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo and at Midori.so.
In 2017 she was appointed curator for the annual Norwegian exhibition in Milan, Everything is Connected.
Katrin has also been active within the Middle Eastern art scene, creating installations, temporary spaces and bespoke furniture for the annual fair, Art Dubai.

TEACHING & LECTURES
From 2014 to 2015 and 2016 to 2019 Katrin Greiling was professor for product design at HBKsaar in Saarbrücken in Germany.
