The Metro suspending lamp, conceived by martì guixè, evolves from a project that assembles a few bricklayers’ measuring meters and luminous sources. This industrial transposition of the concept preserves the visual impact and original structure, an expres
sive force with which the lamp integrates in the ambience. Despite its size, it is very subtle and sober. Its choreographic style, characterized by graciousness, reminds you of rich blown- glass chandeliers.
Five laser cut aluminium profiles resume
the interrupted lines and the proportions given by the fold of the measuring tape and join together in a radial arrangement through simple joints that add linearity to the overall shape. To diffuse the emissions of the LEDs, the ending part of the profil
e (arm) - where a row of LEDs is set - can be oriented and folded up completely as a measuring tape does. Low power LEDs have been chosen to keep all elements as basic as possible and also to avoid dazzling given the fact that the luminous sources are uns
hielded. Metro is an entirely eco-friendly product and made of one material only that undergoes simple manufacturing processes. Characterized by a light packaging, it is easy to transport. It is powered by energy efficient sources, which are not shielded
and therefore do not influence negatively the design of the product.
