Fortunata is the end result of a special partnership between Danese and Matteo Ragni on the occasion of Campari’s 150th anniversary, to be celebrated at the opening of Camparitivo bar at Triennale of Milano, icon of the Italian design where tradition, cul
ture, art and social life interwind. Ragni draws his inspiration from the classic little iconic bottle designed by Fortunato Depero but he reinterprets it in a very original way, taking it apart and putting it back together in shapes that remind you of fu
turism. He winds up defining two light volumes of different dimensions in order to meet aesthetics and light distribution needs.
Besides being very communicative, once again, the product is of unquestionable quality thanks to Danese’s usual princip
led approach. The the translucid effect of the diffuser is the result of an innovative varnishing methodology that allows to adjust the material opacity level adding a transparency that does not compromise the performance. The white inside creates a shiel
ding that, to avoid dazzling, eschews the direct sight of the sources. The inclination of the triangular planes that form Fortunata helps the distribution of light emission too. A subtle effect of shadows of the planes coming together from different angle
s breaks light uniformity on the surface. Fortunata appears as a red changing light volume, looking different from each angle. In the red version realized for Camparisoda, the light, while going through the diffuser gets slightly coloured and as a consequ
ence it warms up the atmosphere.
The luminary comes in different warm and intense colours like amber or more neutral ones like light blue or ice white. It adapts itself to any scenario creating configurations in which the colours are the main inter
pretation elements. Warm or cold lights alternate beautifully. Light performance priorities, technology and material knowledge contribute to making Fortunata a valuable product. The manufacturing process is simple (a methacrylate thermoforming) and the qu
ality product is outstanding. It is eco-sustainable: manufactured through a single cycle, recyclable, made of one material only, resistant and long lasting. Owing to the use of energy saving sources, it performs well and consumes little.
