Two brothers in a brilliant game with nature. Hey, boys will be boys

Get ready for the second round of product designer Tomoko Azumi’s cooperation with Marc-Jens Biegel. The new design the Japan-born artist created for the Frankfurt jeweller and goldsmith features a dark hematite or delicate cacholong sphere caught in the
embrace of 925 silver or 750 gold. The setting leaves the precious stone intact – it is free to move gently in its elegant cage. With this artistic ruse Azumi emphasises the playful aspect of jewellery without lapsing into a blatant language of shapes. T
hus, the TWIRL ring has dance-like and light qualities; in future it will be accompanied by further pieces, such as a necklace and a bangle. In September Twirl will debut in the Rocket Gallery during the London Design Festival (18 - 26 September 2010).

As early as in 2003 Azumi was in the news with ‘Elizabeth’, a minimalistic jewellery range, which was influenced by medieval clothing. This collection was also produced by Biegel. The new Twirl range has a less austere appearance, whilst remaining tr
ue to her clear-cut design principles.
