Babilonia is an expression of the competence of Artemide in lighting, combined with the ability of design to provide unprecedented solutions. A scenic, yet lightweight suspension that produces diffused but perfectly controlled ambient light.Three transparent asymmetrical injection-moulded methacrylate discs open from a central stem accommodating the LED sources. With their accurate optical prism design, they work according to a patented optical principle.The central LEDs inject light into the methacrylate disc that, in turn, returns and processes it along its diameter for even distribution across the environment. The geometry of the disc’s section works in view of balancing light extraction to ensure even emission throughout its thickness, so as to produce a virtual enlargement of the source.The geometry of the optical prisms of the section becomes a graphic sign of light, each functional element is processed to turn into an emotional element, the look matches with the innovative optical technology.
The result is an object that is almost invisible - being transparent when turned off - yet surprising when it comes to life through light, and capable to improve environmental quality.
