In its continuous research for innovation, Alias presents plettro, a reinterpretation of the traditional table with drawers and designed by Paolo Rizzatto. From a typological point of view this solution creates a storage space in the table top, which is dedicated to objects in use, whether in a dining room or a home office. Computers, books, notebooks, can be stored there, as well as cutlery and table linens. It is a very interesting option in contemporary life where furnishings, such as the table, are increasingly becoming transversal and the scene of extremely diverse moments and activities. Plettro is characterised by a decomposed top that becomes a very rigid beam structure, formed by two thin tops intersected by a series of wooden elements that divide spaces and in which the drawers slide. On the top of the models designed for home office there is a useful cable management system. Paolo Rizzatto designs two tables equipped with drawers in different shapes and sizes, ideal for home office: the first one is a triangular table with rounded corners, which formally resembles the plectrum, a small instrument used to strike or pluck the strings of a musical instrument. This gives the name to the entire collection and is configured as a three-seat desk. The second is a desk with an organic, welcoming shape that makes it a perfect writing desk. The plettro collection is completed by tables with traditional wooden tops, available in different sizes: square tables (available in 120x120 cm and 180x180 cm), round tables (with a diameter of 120 cm, 160 cm, or 200 cm) and rectangular tables that can accommodate up to ten seats (available in 100x200 cm, 100x240 cm and 100x300 cm). The characteristic element of all the tables of plettro collection is the leg: this consists of a cast aluminium foot from which three turned wooden cylinders branch out and are grafted onto another aluminium element fixed under the table top. A set of components that harmoniously blend thanks to the fluidity of the surfaces. These extremely lightweight legs are true reticular structures, elegant in their design and very effective in their supporting function. At a time of strong transformation in the use of the domestic spaces Alias faces a theme of tradition that becomes contemporary through the plettro collection. Together with Paolo Rizzatto and thanks to a process of careful analysis, Alias succeeds in innovating a product such as the domestic table with drawer from the typological and formal point of view.
