An opportunity for a change
Earlier this year the ownership of Tapiovaara Ltd originally founded by Ilmari Tapiovaara himself as well as the full rights of the production of Ilmari Tapiovaara's designs were transferred to the hands of Aero Design Furniture Ltd. And so for the first time better possibilities for a voluntary and long-span development of the Tapiovaara identity became reality: We are committed to respond to the needs of the present while respecting Ilmari Tapiovaara's original ideas. During the following years our aim is to bring into production some classics as well as other essential products that are still missing from the collection.
The new concept and visual appearance is a result of the team-work of two talented and versatile designers, industrial designer Aleksi Perälä and graphic designer Rasmus Snabb. "This was an inspiring opportunity for us - it is exceptional to get a chance to create a visual image and entity around the production of a designer that we so highly respect - and with such free hands. We wanted to create a modern look that would delicately depict both the values of Tapiovaara himself as well as the image that people have of him. The leading role was given to the most essential - the products themselves."
Designed to last
The consumers and the professionals of today have all higher requirements and demands towards products. Every Tapiovaara product is designed with attention to detail, produced in small industries locally in Finland and made of mainly Finnish sustainable materials. However the ultimate test of sustainable and long lasting design is the physical endurance in daily use and timeless appearance. The designs of Ilmari Tapiovaara have proved their quality by remaining a part of our daily lives as interesting, still relevant, functional and aesthetic pieces of furniture for the past 70 years.
