Biographie

Sylvain Willenz is one of Belgium's leading young designers. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2003 and having lived in the UK for seven years, Willenz set up his studio in Brussels in 2004. Willenz has experimented with natural rubber, building up on his work methods and the first part of his personal collection of products. For his presentation at 100% Design in 2007, Willenz's collection experimented with new materials and presented clearly new approaches. Winner of Interieur Kortrijk awards in 2002 and nominated Brussels' Most Promising Designer in 2005, his work is inspired by archetypal objects that Willenz re-interprets, giving them a slight twist yet maintaining their simplicity.
